THE TECHNOLOGY ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM

A University of Portland and Oregon Health & Science University Joint Venture

August 2008

Are you a graduate student at Oregon Health & Science University or the University of Portland?  Do you have passionate desire to learn about how to successfully turn ideas into ventures?  If so then please read below about a new program on commercialization of technology that is designed to be done concurrently with your present degree program.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

This program in technology entrepreneurship is for graduate students and will be jointly delivered by the University of Portland (UP) and Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).  This program is offered to complement or extend an individual's graduate education and provides students with a variety of opportunities to learn commercialization skills in an environment that combines practice and theory.  Courses for this program have been approved by the OHSU School of Medicine Graduate Council and the University of Portland.

This two year, 12 semester credit or 18 quarter credit program will provide a unique experiential learning opportunity for a small cohort of select graduate students.

Program Objective

Upon completion of the program, students will be well trained to commercialize technology.  Students will be able to make judgments regarding technical and market feasibility and develop and implement strategic plans for new ventures.  Students will get hands on experience participating in decisions on if and when to launch a company.

Based upon the experience of the entrepreneurship education program at the University of Portland, it is expected that new ventures will be started each year as a direct result of this program.
