The Institute for Technology Entrepreneurship and Commercialization (ITEC) provides a full range of education, training, mentoring, and networking programs and opportunities that support the new entrepreneur. We are centered at the Boston University (BU) School of Management and serve as an educational resource to the entire university campus and to the local, national, and international communities.  ITEC was chartered in the Spring of 2007to broaden the scope of the Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization work that the Entrepreneurial Management Institute (EMI ) began at Boston University.

·         Each year about 30 MBA students and 60 undergraduate students graduate with a Concentration in Entrepreneurship from the School of Management.

·         More than 50% of all MBA students take at least one course in Entrepreneurship and all Undergraduate students participate in a semester-long, integrated set of courses (16 credit hours) on Enterprise Creation.

·         There are approximately 20 full and part-time faculty members supporting and teaching Entrepreneurship courses and related electives.

·         Entrepreneurship concentrators are both full- and part-time students; 35% are international

·         Our main focus has been on cross-campus collaboration, especially around technology commercialization.  Some of our initiatives include:

-          Two cross-University courses in technology commercialization

-          “Faculty Boot Camp”, a short intensive program for non-business faculty

-          Modules in Entrepreneurship offered at our College of Engineering

-          A course on Entrepreneurship offered to students at the Medical Schools of BU and another prominent university in Boston.

-          A series of networking events co-sponsored with the College of Engineering

ITEC also sponsors a number of programs and activities to assist the entrepreneurial activities and interests of its students and alumni, and to facilitate networking among them.
